The Institute Update

Friday 20th October

Conference registration will be from 5pm in the Conference Centre, where you will receive an arrival pack with additional information. The evening meal will be from 7pm, followed by an informal quiz in the bar.

Saturday 21st October

For those arriving on Saturday morning, Conference registration will be from 9am in the Conference Centre. Confirmed speakers are:

Mandie Lavin - Chief Executive Officer, National Association of Funeral Directors
Mandie has invaluable insight into the introduction of regulation to the funeral industry and she will share what changes celebrants may expect in the next few years.

Alan Jose – Group Ambassador for Westerleigh Group
Alan will look at the role of the Private sector Crematoria within the industry from a Westerleigh perspective linked to the changes that have taken place in the industry over the past 20 years, notably the rise in popularity of Civil Funerals.

Sandy Sullivan – Founder and Director, Resomation
Sandy will talk us through some of the Resomation process and how Resomation has the least impact on the environment.

Steve Blakeley – Professional Actor and Civil Celebrant
Steve will discuss and debate how and whether to use humour in funeral ceremonies.

Ann Adlem – Civil Celebrant
Ann will talk and demonstrate how to get the most out of Facebook, focusing on the IoCF secret page.

The Annual General Meeting of the Institute will be held on Saturday afternoon at 4:30pm and we hope that as many members as possible can attend. (Please remember, you do not have to attend Conference to join us for the AGM.)

The Presentation Dinner on Saturday evening will start at 7.30pm and will include certificates and awards for any special achievements.

Sunday 22nd October

For those joining us on Sunday, Conference registration will be from 9am in the Conference Centre. Confirmed speakers are:

Darren Curran – Finders International
Darren will describe the work carried out by Finders and how members may be able to access their service to locate family members when writing funeral services for people who outwardly appear to have no family members.

Anne Barber – IoCF President and MD Civil Ceremonies
Writing funerals when there is little or no information, and a short CCL update.

The Conference weekend will end with a light buffet on Sunday at lunchtime.

There are five options for attending the Conference, although we do hope that you will spoil yourself and come for the whole weekend! (All fees are inclusive of VAT.)

To reserve your place, your booking form must be received by Friday 6th October. Remember - we are able to offer a 12.5% discount on all bookings taken and paid for by 31st August.

4) Day Delegate Saturday
Rate: £70 (Discount rate: £61.25)

light buffet lunch

How to Book

Simply complete the booking form - which can be downloaded here - and send it to Barbara.
Payment can be made by BACS directly to the IoCF account (details on the form) or by cheque.
